Have you heard about Iran?
Not what's on the news, or what's on travel TikTok, but really heard about Iran.
Welcome to Didaar, where we'll share stories of resilience, resistance and courage. We cut through the noise to share with you the faces and experiences of Iranians, as we work bit by bit to chip at the propaganda that has shaped perceptions of us for centuries.
Our aim is to explore the realities of living and resisting in Iran, and the aftermath of big movements and their impact of everyday people. We will do this by interviewing the people of Iran who live in defiance of the theocratic autocracy that has ruled in Iran since 1979. Through their stories, we will attempt to bridge the gaps between what you see on the news, and on TikTok, and the reality of what people experience on the ground. What their hopes and dreams are, what goals they have in life, and what they are willing to risk to achieve them.
We will fight against capital punishment and advocate for the release of all political prisoners. We will speak with the families of people who have been executed, and the trial processes and impacts on the family unit. We will speak with former political prisoners of their experiences and how they continue to advocate for freedom.
We will speak with people who have lost their family members in protests and those who have suffered irreparable injury from state-based violence and the brutal realities of life after.
Come along, read our stories, familiarize yourself with our faces. Cut through the propaganda and see what life is really like, how we self-advocate, and see how you can help. Until we meet in a safe, free Iran, where we can all experience the best parts of our culture and country, together.
